Protofuse (France)

Julien Bayle, born 1976, is a composer, sound designer, coder, engineer, media installation designer and music performer.

He floats inside ambient and drone soundscapes and can be found inside dub techno too.
He uses a lot of technology and teaches courses about max/msp/jitter environment max for live’s Ableton Live addon.
He loves electronic hardware and likes to create hard and soft interfaces between things. He built his own midi controller to control his Ableton Live’s liveset during musical live performance: the famous protodeck controller. He delivered all schematics, firmwares etc on his website because it was an open-source project.
He releases music and performs live as protofuse and under his own name too.
He’s actually working on a big visual machine project using max/msp/jitter and external C++ libraries.
He drives his own company Design the Media which provides courses/training about max/msp/jitter and max for live and consulting about hardware and software interface based on Arduino, Midibox or other environment. He’s involved in several controller design project, but it is a secret.

He works hard to build his own place in Marseille/France. A place that would be a mix between a real training center, that could provide courses with high skill teacher, and a kind of hackerspace lab where experiment and more could be done.
